Deep into the darkness a spine chilling scream cuts through the fog. Filthy fuzz sounds start consuming the air. A deep rumble of drums and square waves get the earth shaking. This is the Horror Doom march of ARCANA 13… for the dead are listening.

The ‘Black Death’ EP was conceived and composed as the main theme for horror TV show “Black Death: The Series”, created by Italian director Luca Canale Brucculeri as a transposition of the homonymous comic on screen. The 7-inch will also include a doomed version of Iron Maiden’s classic “Wrathchild”.

Guitarist Simone Bertozzi says: « Since Danza Macabra was released, being commissioned a soundtrack or main theme for a horror flick has been our greatest ambition. With “Black Death” we turned that dream into a nightmare of melodies: a sick and disturbing lullaby that would plunge you into the dark abyss, drag you down slowly and inexorably filling your lungs with dark slime… the Black Death. It’s good to be back, as the end of that abyss is still not seen« .

ARCANA 13 is now part of Nikos Giagkoudakis’ Strictly Forward Society roster and will tour Italy and Europe in early 2020, before entering the studio next summer for their sophomore full-length release.

Hailing from Italy, the birthplace of cult horror movie masters, ARCANA 13 stirs in the cauldron a lethal brew of Heavy Doom with galore of Italian Horror’s legacy. Lucio Fulci living of fuzzy riffs. Mario Bava high on distorted mellotrons. Dario Argento crazy for low end grime.

Debut album ‘Danza Macabra’ was released on Aural Music in 2016. The metal press got frenzy as Metal Asylum wrote « They bring the expected, requisite fuzz and tube-y tones required of metal dabblers in Doom, occult, and 70s Horror films, but also carry unexpectedly sumptuous vocal melodies and digable, busy guitar riffage. » Sealing the deal, classic horror artist Enzo Sciotti gave his blessing painting the eye-striking album cover and the unique ‘Danza Macabra’ horror show, brought live on a set of Italian shows then across Europe with label mates Messa.

In 2018, Claudio Simonetti of Goblin, struck by their cover version of Dario Argento’s Suspiria included in ‘Danza Macabra’, got in touch with the band to revise his main theme composed for George Romero’s « Dawn Of The Dead ». The song is featured as opening track in the Special 40th Anniversary edition out on Rustblade Records.

The last gravestone is the collaboration with director Luca Canale Brucculeri on his new horror TV series “Black Death” based on the eponymous comic book. He got enthralled by ARCANA 13’s music and decided to commission the main theme’s songwriting for the series, that will be released as special edition 7” in January 2020 on Aural Music, along with a doomed up version of Iron Maiden’s classic “Wrathchild”.

Emblems seen through the fog, it’s the end of it all. Look upon the blood-red moon and you’ll be facing the Black Death.”
