SLEEP confirmed as third headliner for the sixth edition of DESERTFEST LONDON

Stoner metal pioneers SLEEP return to DESERTFEST LONDON to headline the Roundhouse venue on Sunday 30th April, 2017. The legendary trio joins Turbonegro and Slo Burn on top of the bill, alongside dozens of other stoner, doom and psych rock acts to be announced.

After conquering Koko in 2015, SLEEP are back at Desertfest; this time to reign at the Roundhouse. That’s right, not only did the festival bag seminal doom legends Sleep to headline their sixth edition, but the Desertfest crowd will also be descending on the iconic Roundhouse for the whole of the Sunday.
Forming in 1990, SLEEP carved out an almost mythological name for themselves in their original stint of less than a decade. The first three-piece lineup of Al Cisneros, Matt Pike and Chris Hakius recorded two of doom’s most revered albums in « Holy Mountain » and « Dopesmoker » (or « Jerusalem » for the purists), with the latter not even seeing release until the years in which Sleep slept. As Cisneros and Pike found other outlets for their heaviness through Om and High on Fire, a resurging stoner and doom scene declared Sleep as a monolithic pillar of the scene, due mostly to their downtuned, distorted riffs but also their uncompromising love for a certain plant. The time was perfect for a Sleep reunion.
The Desertfest crowd already got some of it, when SLEEP closed out the 4th edition of the festival with an unforgettable set at the Koko. That’s why this year, SLEEP will be headlining the much larger Roundhouse. The famous London venue, just a short walk from Desertfest’s other stages, boasts an increased capacity, meaning nobody should miss their chance to space out to « Dragonaut »…
Bands already confirmed for DESERTFEST LONDON 2017 are Turbonegro, Slo Burn (exclusive U.K. performance), Candlemass, Lowrider, Black Spiders, Samsara Blues Experiment, The Picturebooks, Satan’s Satyrs, 1000Mods, Yuri Gagarin, Vodun, Pigsx7, The Well, Mammoth Storm, Stubb, Wucan, Venimous Maximus, Elephant Tree, Grave Lines…
Many other acts will be announced throughout the winter… Keep your eyes peeled!
